The wrap - BCE’s Rugby 7's carnivals a huge success!

That’s a wrap! BCE’s Rugby 7s Carnivals are over for 2022, with the days ending on a high point!

This year over 1500 BCE students participated in the four competitions across Term 2 and 3, joining together in Brisbane North, South, West, and the Gold Coast for this year’s events.

BCE School Operations and Programs Lead, Greg Casey, said this year’s carnivals were a huge success.

“Over the past few years BCE students have missed out on so much due to COVID-19, and it was wonderful to finally see so many of our BCE students put down their books and put on their team jerseys and boots for some sporting fun unique to BCE schools,” he said.

“The concept has grown significantly this year, with the addition of the Gold Coast tournament, which went off without a hitch, and plans are already being looked at for an even larger participation rate in 2023.

“In true BCE style, we saw hundreds of parents, friends and grandparents show their support, cheering on their children and local schools at all four carnivals.

“I’d like to thank our school communities for their spirit and the sportsmanship exemplified throughout the tournaments – the children were a credit to their families and schools.

“I’d also like to thank Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) for their ongoing support of our schools and these competitions again this year- without this help the whole program would have stalled.

“Our partnership has been a really productive one and our children have been the winners.

“I would also like to offer my thanks to the many staff and parents who assisted with coaching and supervision of the children over the four days.

“There was a great camaraderie evident across our schools which these types of carnivals bring to the fore.

“Finally, I would like to pass on a big congratulations to all of the children who participated across the four carnivals.

“They made the days and I hope that the experiences were rewarding for them.”
