As South-East Queensland continues to experience rapid population growth, Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is witnessing an increase in enrolment applications across its schools.
In response to this heightened demand, BCE will expand its Prep intake across 16 schools in 2025, aligning with the demographic shifts and rising student numbers across the region.
Growth areas for BCE schools include inner-city Brisbane, Beaudesert, Gold Coast, and Springfield Lakes.
St Mary’s School Beaudesert has experienced consistent growth, with the expansion of both their Prep and Year 3 classrooms in 2025.
St Mary’s School Principal Renay Condon said the growth is a result of their growing positive reputation and the sense of community fostered over the years.
"We are now seeing a wonderful trend where past pupils are choosing to send their own children here,” she said.
“It speaks volumes about the lasting impact of the St Mary’s experience, where families feel a deep connection and trust in the education we provide across generations.
“Overwhelmingly, parents also cite recommendations from family and friends as a key reason for sending their child to St Mary’s.
“Our school’s stellar reputation within the Beaudesert community is frequently mentioned, reflecting the positive experiences of our students and their families.
“I believe families are drawn to St Mary’s because our mission and values align with their vision of providing a holistic, nurturing education that supports their child's growth in all aspects of life.”
Renay said to accommodate its expanding student population, they have embarked on an ambitious masterplan to expand to three streams across the school.
“This exciting development is already underway, with both Prep and Year 3 set to move to three classes in 2025,” she said.
“As we continue to grow, our masterplan ensures we can provide the necessary facilities to support our students.
“We look forward to welcoming more families to our school and continuing to offer exceptional education in our picturesque setting.”
BCE Executive Director Dr. Sally Towns said, “BCE proactively responds and adapts to the needs and demands of our communities across our 146 schools across South-East Queensland.”
"While BCE has responded to growth in large greenfield areas like Yarrabilba, Aura, and Coomera, our focus will also remain on improving facilities at our existing schools, meeting the needs of our growing region,” she said.
“BCE is dedicated to fostering thriving, faith-filled learning g communities that align with the needs of our expanding communities, creating a better future for all.”
