Good Samaritan Catholic College Bli Bli is inviting the local community to take a sneak peek behind the school gates during Brisbane Catholic Education’s Open Week 28 April to 4 May.
New leadership
As the school enters a new era under the leadership of Principal Lee Elvy in 2025, this is a perfect time for families to experience the ‘Good Samaritan Passion Pathway’.
Lee has been part of the Good Samaritan community since 2018, holding a number of leadership positions at the school over this time, most recently as Head of College.
“In 2024, after years of legacy building, we farewelled our foundation Year 7 cohort as they became the first Good Samaritan Year 12 graduates,” Lee said.
“This marked a new period in the school’s history where we are now an established institution with a responsibility to build upon our foundation.”
“It is such an exciting time to lead this fantastic College community, and we can’t wait to open our doors for the wider community to experience what makes Good Samaritan Catholic College so special,” Lee said.
A time of tremendous growth
Opening with 172 students in 2019, the school has grown to a thriving community of over 1,250 students and 160 staff members.
“I started at Good Samaritan a year before the first students even entered the school gates,” Lee said.
“It has been a privilege to be part of shaping the school through a time of tremendous growth.”
A school at the heart of the Sunshine Coast community
The Open Day event on Tuesday 29 April is another way that Lee is strengthening the College’s connections with the Sunshine Coast community.
“I encourage everyone in the broader community to be part of the Good Samaritan journey,” he said.
“What makes our school different is providing every young person, regardless of their background, with a faith-based education that instils the belief that they can achieve and make a difference in the world.”
“As Principal, I aim to embed our culture of continuous improvement, where staff and students are striving for excellence in all they do.”
Seeing the vision for the school come to life has been truly rewarding and the highlight of Lee’s career.
“I am excited to lead Good Samaritan into this new chapter, ensuring an environment where every member of our community has the opportunity to flourish and succeed.”
