Jenna Webb says she feels she is living out her true calling since taking up the role of Principal in July 2022 at St Elizabeth’s School Tarragindi.

“I knew early on in my career as a teacher that I wanted to make a greater impact on education and because of this I felt called to Principalship,” Jenna says.

Nine months after starting in the role, the Principal says she’s identifying ways her community can “innovate together.”

“I am working closely with our staff and community to make a big impact on the learning and culture of our school, and I am enjoying spending time in the classrooms learning about how we can best support each of our students individually,” she says.

“At St Elizabeth’s we have a focus on mental health and wellbeing, which will see us implement the explicit teaching of friendship skills and emotional regulation.

“I believe that once our students have a clear and deep understanding of their own wellbeing, and the strategies they need to support themselves through the challenges they may face, it will allow them to achieve success in their learning.

She says the school “takes internet safety very seriously” and have launched a focused eSafety curriculum and eSports for Years 4, 5 and 6 students.

“The focused eSafety curriculum helps our students to learn about how to be safe online and when gaming, and how important it is to have breaks, stay physically active, and include friends to enhance social skills and support,” she says.

“Whether we realise it or not the virtual platform is part of our student’s world, and as educators we need to educate our students on how to keep safe online.”

Jenna added she is truly blessed to have staff who nurture and create opportunities to teach and guide students to find their gifts and talents through our engaging and rigorous curriculum.

“St Elizabeth’s is a dynamic community full of incredible staff, students, parents, and care givers,” she says.

“As Principal, I can see each member of our community striving for our common goals and vision, by using their own faith, gifts, and talents to better our school community.

“St Elizabeth’s is truly an incredible school and I look forward to continuing to listen to our students, staff, community and our Parish, as we work together to create a supportive, innovative and inclusive learning environment, where all students can thrive and reach their full potential.”

Jenna also sets a good example for her students with her healthy lifestyle, which includes strength sports, weightlifting and competing in strongwomen competitions – even placing third in the 2019 Oceania Mas Wrestling competition.

“By prioritising physical activity, I can show my community that taking care of yourself is an important part of life,” she says.
